* Use
* Troubleshooter

Download
The download is actually quite simple. You click on the link below, then choose to "Download Now" and choose Run, you wait until the file is downloaded and click Run again. The installation begins.
Download AVG Anti Virus * (Note ± 45 Mb!)

AVG Anti Virus has recently been the first (!) Approved anti-virus program that can work on Windows Vista. This has an advantage over the competition!

Install
The first screen you see is the Welcome screen, click Next here. The next two screens, the License Agreement, you theoretically should read. You accept them or not and go on to the next screen. In the next screen starts to look after some files and you get different options. Most likely you get the option to install AVG but it would be that AVG already on the computer to allow other options such as: Repair of the program, add or delete components or delete AVG. You choose the correct option, install in our case. Then you can choose "Standard Installation" or "Custom Installation". The easiest is that you choose the first option. You click on "Next" and you get an activation screen. All data entered as you leave and then again on "Next". Finally he asks whether you "AVG Internet Security Toolbar is installed, you can choose whether or not you want and click" Next "and then" Finish ". The installation starts, just let the installer do its work. When completed there is Finished and you can click Finish at the bottom. AVG is now installed. 7 steps he starts a wizard where you can set AVG. Here's an overview:

Step 1
Nothing special, just another message that the installation is complete.

Step 2
Here you can specify whether a full AVG scan every day to perform or not. I check this site out because they charge the computer during use and that can sometimes disruptive. It is not necessary every day to do a virus scan because AVG scans all incoming file anyway.

Step 3
In Step 3 AVG asks if you want to send anonymous information about its use. I choose Yes because I am here to help improve the program.

Step 4
Even this step can be beaten, here is some additional information.

Step 5
Here AVG asks if you want to update.

Step 6
I choose "Update" and begins to update AVG.

Step 7
In the last step you can choose whether you want to register your version of AVG but it is not necessary.

Use
AVG is by default the daily full scan of the computer. Now this is pretty absurd to scan your computer every day but if you feel safer in this setting can be comfortable as it is. For those who like to adjust it by opening it in the AVG system tray (bottom right in the start bar), right-click the AVG logo (a square with four colors, black, red, green and yellow) button. A menu from which you "Launch AVG Test Center" chooses. It opens a window where you turn on the Scheduler button clicks. You get a list of all planned actions.

There are two standard, one test and an update. Select what you want to modify and click on "Edit Schedule", the bottom of the list. It opens an option screen where you can customize the appropriate options. If you do not want him daily scans / upgrade select the first check (with text "periodically start scheduled anti-virus test ') af. Want just a different time you can choose another next time fill "Start daily at.

Would you also run a scan if the computer did not like the time he normally does a scan then you check below (next to the text 'If missed, start immediately when computer start-up ") the box. The options below are applicable only when you buy a commercial version.

To manually start an update to double click on the logo in the system tray and click the "Update" button at the bottom of the window. AVG will look for a new update is available and if so it will download and install. If everything downloaded and installed a screen appears when you click 'OK' button or you can can wait 30 seconds and then it closes automatically. A test you can manually start it by as just simply right clicking on the logo and 'Launch AVG Test Center "from the menu. You can choose between "Scan Computer" and "Scan Selected Areas", the safest choice is "Scan Computer" because then you're sure you do not forget parts and no viruses so overlooked!

Troubleshooter
The little part I would try troubleshooting common problems with one solution. Whether or not accompanied with some screenshots.

Problem:

Solution:
No AVG is not currently available in Dutch. Within months, a new version of AVG (version 8.0) and there is a high chance that this version is nederlandstalig is.

Problem:

It opens an additional screen settings and the options here you can 'Check Incoming Mail, Outgoing Mail Check "check off.
3. You connect through the setup screens again on 'OK' button. Now he would normally not a problem can give! Should he still have problems, just restart your computer and check again!

Problem:
AVG also works on Windows Vista?

Solution:
AVG was the first virus that Microsoft officially work under Windows Vista. In the meantime, the best known virus scanners are all under Vista.

Problem:
Norton Anti Virus should be removed so I can install AVG Anti Virus. How do I do this?

Solution:
Norton dilate you do as follows:

On Windows XP:

Start ==> Control Panel ==> Software

It opens a window. In that window is a compiled list of all installed programs. Search for norton and click once on the name. There will be a Delete button (/ change) appear. Click it! The wizard who has just opened you can delete Norton.

On Windows Vista:

Start ==> Control Panel

In the window that appears, choose the title "Applications" shortcut for "Remove Programs". A program list is compiled. Search Norton in this list and click it. Top of the list a "Delete" button (/ change). Click to remove the wizard to open.

Problem:

Solution:
Do this as follows:

You double click on the logo (bottom right in your start bar), opened in the bottom screen you immediately for Update. AVG will not propose an update or install, choose your course to update AVG then download and install the update.

If AVG has finished a message box appears where you choose 'OK'. (After 30 seconds the message box closes itself off) AVG is updated.

Problem:
AVG does not update automatically every day. How can I make sure he is doing?

Solution:
Daily updates to disable as follows:

You double click on the logo (bottom right in your start bar), in the opened window select Scheduler from the list below and click on the "Scheduled Tasks". By default there are two items in the line that just appeared.

You choose the item "Update" in the name. At the bottom click on the "Edit Schedule". It opens a window with settings. You checked "periodically check for Internet updates" and then choose to "Check for updates daily Internet" then a moment in the day you can choose.

If your computer at the time of the scheduled update is not connected to the Internet or is not enabled, the update run, the next time you boot your computer / the internet plugged.

Problem:
I am told that AVG 8.0 is free but each time I start the computer indicates that he was only a few days to go.

Solution:
AVG 8 is now unfortunately not free. Well you have the option to download a trial version. This can then try for 30 days. After this period, your version unusable and your computer is not protected against viruses.

The best you can do is remove AVG 8 back of your computer and download and install AVG 7.5 Free. This fact can be used indefinitely for free. AVG Free 8 is only because somewhere out in June!

Problem:
AVG update not as it should or Windows indicates that AVG no longer up to date.

Solution 1:
If your Norton to AVG on your machine then you'd most probably be removed. But Norton does not remove itself completely and this causes problems with AVG. An attentive reader found a solution to this problem (thanks Jan):

I had removed norton with windows: this computer: Remove programs / wijzigen.Kennelijk is not enough. Then I removed AVG, Norton via website, it downloaded a program to remove Norton and then installed AVG free again. There would then update it. May still remain behind residual files through Norton remover may disappear.

The piece of software to completely remove norton is available at the following link:
Download Norton Removal Tool ** (± 1 MB)

Solution 2:

If AVG will not update and it would make a comment about the solution of Elmas you should try again, thanks for Elmas:

Check date and time of your computer. If that is wrong he will not update. The bottom right icon remains black and gray. After correcting the date and time you update it again.

If additional issues occur you should always post a question or mail me a question.
