Computer Viruses

Computer Viruses

Four types of viruses
There are four concepts of viruses based on which all modern viruses. First we have a worm, it spreads often over a network and can therefore easily transfer data. A Trojan horse poses as another program, such as a word processor but is actually a virus that vital files can destroy. Third, we have malware that particular advertising purposes. There was a time a malware virus in circulation that a chattering Donald Duck duck on the screen showed around. Finally there is the logic bomb that actually works like a time bomb. The virus does something only when a certain action takes place as the start of a program.

Origin of the computer
In 1984 wrote an American named Fred Cohen, a book in which he described how he made a virus for a DOS computer. This book is very much between 1987 and 1991 read by creators of viruses and eventually used frequently. Originally these viruses are spread via floppy disks illegal, now is the network here for more mis (GE) used.

Dissemination
There are different ways of distribution:

* Disk
* Memory Cards
* Infected CD-ROM
* Modem
* E-mail
* File sharing
* Abuse of bugs in the OS like Microsoft Windows, or bugs in the e-mail program like Microsoft Outlook.

Fighting
Today there are a lot of virus detection programs. At the moment there is a big market and there are companies that their capital owe to viruses. Virus scanners are regularly updated for the makers to continue, if they detect what the owner gets a message from the computer and the virus can be removed. These scanners are less necessary in other operating systems, for example, Apple just viruses because a smaller market and the spread is not interesting for the makers.

Programs that fight viruses:

* NOD32
* Clamav / Clamwin This is free software
Symantec / Norton Antivirus
* Sophos Antivirus
* Norman Virus Control
* McAfee
* Trend Micro PC Cillin
* Kaspersky
* AVG Free version available
* Avast! Free version available after registration
* F-Secure (Windows Vista Partner)

Facts

* Six percent of the scanned mails contains a virus.
* An attacker can mail from one another with a virus.
* It has become popular for one another, for example an Internet company to blame a virus through e-mails with a virus as a delivery mail failed to send.
* In 2004, the numerator of viruses at more than 100,000!
